The European Commission is finalizing a new five-year antimicrobial resistance (AMR) action plan for the region, which will be launched next year. European Public Health Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis made a statement on 18 November announcing that, “The European Commission will launch, in 2017, a second action plan building upon and strengthening the work already done and supporting member states in the implementation and monitoring of their national action plans.”
The new plan will continue with a One Health approach and there are plans to establish a forum for Member States’ national authorities to exchange best practice information and arrange peer reviews of national action plans.
