World Bank Report Estimates Impact of AMR

The World Bank released a report on 19 September, 2016, in anticipation of the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), which estimates the global economic damage that AMR will cause by 20150. According to the report, if left unchecked, by 2050 AMR could cause economic damage on par with the 2008 financial crisis. Research cited in the report also states that AMR will increase poverty and will affect poorest countries the most.
