The Society for Medical Decision Making and the NIHR Patient Safety Translational Research Centre of Imperial College London hosted the 16th Biennial SMDM-European Conference in London on June 12-14, 2016.
The meeting’s special focus was on “Improving Diagnostic Decision Making”, with two invited symposia on vaccination decision making and on cancer diagnostic delays. The aim of the meeting was to bring together high-quality, oral and poster presentations from psychology, epidemiology, health economics and other scientific disciplines involved in the study of medical decisions. DRIVE-AB partner Abigail Colson delivered a presentation on the health technology assessment process for antibiotics in Europe and described what DRIVE-AB hopes to achieve in the arena.
Some of the keynote speakers include Professor Ralph Hertwig, Managing Director of the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Mark L. Graber, Senior Fellow at RTI International, Professor Emeritus of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and President of the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine.
